On July 7, according to Thai media reports, the State Railway of Thailand announced that the international train from Bangkok Aphiwa Central Station to Vientiane (Han Sawa Station) in Laos will be officially opened on July 19. It is believed that this will become a new travel option and promote international transportation.

The train will depart from Bangkok Aphiwa Central Station for the first time at 8:30 pm on July 19, and Deputy Minister of Transportation Surapong will preside over the launch ceremony.

The first train is the 133 express train from Bangkok Aphiwa to Vientiane. The estimated journey time is about 11 hours. It will go through exit procedures at Nong Khai Station and finally arrive at Vientiane Station (Khansawa Station) to go through entry procedures in Laos.

The Bangkok Aphiwa-Vientiane train uses the Northeast Railway Line, separates from the Northern Railway at Ban Pachi Hub Railway Station, passes through Saraburi Province, enters the Tanungchila Hub Railway Station in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, passes through Khon Kaen Province, Udon Thani Province, Nong Khai Province, and then crosses the Thai-Laos First Friendship Bridge to reach Tanaleng Station, and finally arrives at the terminal station Vientiane.

Ekala, director of the State Railway of Thailand, revealed that he had previously visited Laos to hold a meeting with the Lao Railway State-owned Enterprise to prepare for the opening of the train line from Bangkok's Aphiwa Central Station to Vientiane (Hanthawa Station). The meeting mainly discussed four issues:

1. It is planned to open a bus route between Bangkok's Aphiwa Central Station-Udon Thani-Nong Khai-Vientiane (Khanthawa Station), which is scheduled to be tested from July 13 to 14;

2. Tourism market development plan

3. Advertising and promotion plan

4. Increase the potential for cargo transportation between Thailand, Laos and China

At the same time, the State Railway of Thailand also cooperated with the Lao National Railway Enterprise to complete the train operation test between Udon Thani Station-Nong Khai Station-Tana Leng Station-Vientiane Station (Khanthawa Station) on May 21 this year. The test was successfully completed and no problems occurred during the operation.

The opening of the train line between Bangkok Aphiwa Central Railway Station, Udon Thani, Nong Khai and Vientiane (Han Thawa Station) is considered an important expansion of cooperation between the two countries. The train can now directly reach Tanaleng Station and Vientiane Station in Laos. After the full opening of the line, it will bring huge economic, trade and tourism benefits.

The train can transfer passengers flying to Udon Thani Airport to Vientiane without the need for other vehicles. This will improve the logistics systems of the two countries and is in line with the Thai government's "Ignite Thailand" policy to promote Thailand as a tourism and logistics hub in the region.
